LinkSnap

About this project

LinkSnap is a full-stack URL shortener built around a Python backend and a separate browser frontend. A user submits a long URL, the backend validates it, generates a compact identifier, persists the mapping, and returns a shortened link. Opening that link later resolves the identifier and redirects the user to the original destination.

The project keeps the frontend and backend separate, with the backend responsible for HTTP request handling, validation, persistence, and URL resolution. SQLite provides the storage layer, while the browser application provides the user-facing workflow for creating shortened links.

The repository also includes a QR scanner utility and automated test code, extending the project beyond a basic URL-shortening endpoint into a broader exploration of API design, persistence, frontend-backend communication, and practical HTTP behaviour.
